Yet Another Minimalist blogger πŸ™„

YAM I am

Some minimalists make it their entire personality to own as close to nothing as possible, but that strikes me as playing right into that "You'll own nothing, and you'll be happy" propaganda.

So while I do believe in buying less to experience more, I'm NOT the Dr. Bronner's 18-in-1 use type of minimalist. No matter how big a fan I am of the Hemp Eucalyptus one, I'm not using it to brush my teeth as this YAM has a really good 1-in-1 use toothpaste for that.

I draw the line at those who forgo DO (deodorant) in the name of saving space... BO (body odor) is nasty, bro.

5 flavors of minimalism

  1. The Essentialist - values quality over quantity
  2. The Experientialist - collects experiences over material possessions
  3. The Enoughist - prefers having no more than absolutely necessary
  4. The Eco-Minimalist - pursues reducing their negative impact on the environment
  5. The Soul Minimalist - cherishes mindfulness, stillness, and quiet

Eco-Essentialist

In the past, I struggled with the validity of calling myself a minimalist because I love tech like Oprah loves bread (especially travel tech). But I can't stand single-use or cheaply made things, it drives me crazy to have too many items that do the exact same thing, and I totally believe Bill Nye when he says the planet is on f**king fire!!!. So, I've settled on calling myself a mixed flavor of Eco-Essentialist. I'm OK investing in essentials that are built to last, beautifully designed, and that keep the planet in mind.

Hi, I'm Jan, a remote software engineer currently living the visa-run life in Japan. At first I only wanted to talk about cozy home finds and MMORPGs, but since I also like tech I thought it'd be a good place to share what I like and dislike about things outside of just video games and all the tech that has earned a spot in my eco-essentialist lifestyle.

WTF

These brands are treasures and have made it to the list of Wonderful Treasure Finds. I owned these before I started being so nit-picky in writing these reviews, and I still have them now because they are just that fire, IMHO.

Reviews

I don't promote or recommend things that I don't use and love the heck out of. Even as an affiliate, my goal is to keep it πŸ’― real i-try-before-you-buy reviews in hopes they will provide at least 2 cents worth of value to you. I'm not trying to make this blog my main source of income because your trust is priceless. Not to mention, I find those websites that have excessive ads all over the page gross AF.

Alas, the price of things is always rising 😭. If you want to help me continue doing what I'm doing, you can buy me a cup of tea.
